Since September 2014, Rutgers University has recognized that members of the university community use names other than their legal names. As such, the university seeks to promote the comfort and safety of students who wish to be identified by a name other than their legal name by instituting a preferred name procedure.
Chosen/preferred names shall be used in all university communications and reporting, except where the use of the legal name is required by university business or legal need.
