Action. Community. Transformation
The ACT Summit is the annual ACTober signature learning experience, encouraging all of Rutgers to come together in education and service to others. Participants will learn what it means to take Action, develop skills together as a Community, and bring about a culture of Transformation towards a greater good.

We call on our entire campus to ACT on behalf of undocu+ and immigrant communities across all racial and ethnic backgrounds in need during the current local and national context.

-About the Film
When federal action impacts the lives of 700,000 fellow Dreamers, immigration lawyer Luis Cortes Romero advocates for them—and becomes the first undocumented immigrant to argue a case at the U.S. Supreme Court. The DACA program, aimed at shielding undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, is under scrutiny, creating ongoing uncertainty for young DACA recipients. FROM HERE/FROM THERE (DE AQUÍ/DE ALLÁ) is an uplifting and clear-eyed documentary interweaving the controversial case’s journey to the Supreme Court, the immigrant rights movement, and Luis’ remarkable personal story of family, hope, and perseverance.

The Q&A panel following the film screening will feature the protagonist, Luis, as well as writer, producer, and creative director Nicole Solis-Sison, an immigrants rights activists and founding member of the Undocumented Filmmakers Collective. https://fromherefromthere.com/.

Passive Service Activity - Safety Kits
Throughout the ACT Summit, participants will collaborate to build small safety kits for the local New Brunswick community. A maximum of 2 hours can be granted to those who engage with the service activity throughout the Summit. Coordinated by UndocuRutgers.
Know Your Rights Workshop
The workshop will be focused on providing students with practical information about their legal rights. Hosted by UndocuRutgers in collaboration with the Rutgers University Student Assembly Legislative Affairs Committee.
