Martin Luther King Task Force
The Taskforce hosted an opening ceremony at the Busch Campus Center on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 to which members of the campus and community are invited. An all-day showing of Henry Hampton's epic PBS series, Eyes on the Prize, led up to the Reception. Professor Clement A. Price, Director of the Center for Ethnicity, Race, and the Modern Experience at Rutgers-Newark, gave a stimulating address about Dr. King, reminding us that Newark was the last city King visited before his fateful trip to Memphis on April 4, 1968. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. the screening of Eyes on the Prize resumed in Busch Center Hall.
