Klint Jaramillo is the winner of the 2008 Lionel Cuffie Award for Activism and Excellence. The award was presented during the eighth annual Rainbow Graduation Celebration on May 6, 2008. Klint received this award for his outstanding academic achievements as a member of the Livingston College EOF Honor Society, Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociological Honor Society, the Rutgers Department of Sociology Honors Program, the Paul Robeson Scholars Project, and the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program. His senior thesis research entitled “Soy Un Hombre Gay: Identity Formation Among South American Gay Men” received High Honors in the Department of Sociology. Klint was also an active member of BiGLARU, The Rutgers Social Justice Institute, the Queer Caucus, and LLEGO from 2004-2008. Klint’s persistence, unfailing positive energy, hard work, and dignity exemplify the spirit of this award. Next fall, Klint will be attending University of Chicago and working as the graduate intern at the Office of LGBTQ Programming. |
